Better Than Takeout Chinese Chicken & Broccoli

Chinese Chicken & Broccoli is one of my favorite Asian dishes. Admittedly, I do like Beef and Broccoli too, but the thin sliced chicken in that sticky sauce with broccoli makes me love chicken and broccoli more than beef and broccoli! The sweet flavor of the sauce has a magic hold on me and keeps me wanting more and more and more!

Homemade Takeout

I’m so happy to have tweaked some recipes to come up with this amazing Asian homemade takeout dish that I can enjoy any night of the week from the comfort of my own home.

Previously, I thought Italian food was (by far) my favorite type of food. However, I have recently started rethinking this. I keep finding myself saying, “this is my favorite Chinese food.” And it’s for a million different Chinese dishes! Even though I tend to say that about every Italian dish, I’m starting to consider my favorite to be both Chinese and Italian foods!

I can’t get enough of the sweet sauces and the delicious vegetables that most Chinese dishes contain. If you enjoy Chinese or Asian-inspired dishes like me, you will probably enjoy the following recipes:

Asian Food Key Notes

Chinese chicken & broccoli has a sweet and savory flavor of deliciousness that stems from a few key ingredients of oyster sauce, rice wine, and garlic. You probably know what garlic is because it’s a staple in many different dishes, but do you know what oyster sauce and rice wine are?

Rice wine is a dry wine that is made from fermented rice. It has a unique taste has more of a vinegar flavor. It is pretty common in Asian inspired dishes. This is a must have when trying to make Chinese takeout recipes!

Oyster Sauce is a type of condiment that is a thick and dark brown liquid. It is made from caramelized oyster juices and has a salty, but sweet taste.

Combining oyster sauce, rice wine, and garlic is an absolute must for making this sweet and savory dinner! In addition to those ingredients, you can’t skimp on the cornstarch. Yes, this recipe requires a good amount. And, no, the cornstarch won’t add to the flavor of this dish. Nonetheless, it will certainly add to the texture which is VERY important for the actual sauce. You want to make your sauce thick and you want your chicken to be sticky. Sticky chicken and thick sauce will really make this Chinese chicken & broccoli amazingly yummy!
