I had some leftover cherry pie filling and was looking inspiration as to what to make with it. When looking through recipes, I came across a recipe for a cherry pie dump cake and had no idea what that was. In addition, I was following comments on a forum where people were absolutely RAVING about this dessert called, Cherry Pie Dump Cake.

What Is A Dump Cake?

In all honesty, I thought it sounded weird. Dump cake? I had heard of cakes like that, but didn’t know what it was. However, I was intrigued. I needed to see what all these people were talking about. I did a quick search in Pinterest and found TONS of pins for this. Wow. It was like a whole world that I never knew about. The recipes all seemed very similar. And the recipes all seemed very easy. I love easy recipes, especially ones that have great reviews!

I only needed a few ingredients to make this. So I updated my shopping list on include the items because I had decided I was definitely going to try this cherry pie dump cake in the near future.

One night, I randomly pulled this recipe together after dinner. I was kicking myself that I hadn’t started this while we were eating dinner because it does take a bit of time to bake. Nonetheless, when this cake was finally ready to eat, everyone LOVED it. It was absolutely delicious and so easy. Like embarrassing easy. Once you make this and bring it somewhere, you won’t want anyone to ask you for the recipe…but they will ask!

This is a definitely must bake cake. Try it and enjoy it. Your family will love you. You can hold this as an incentive over your kids’ heads to finish their dinner. They won’t be able to skip this dessert, not if they have ever tried it before. And if you serve it with homemade whipped cream, you will be even more of a Rockstar!

Ingredients

Cherry Pie Dump Cake

1 box white cake mix I used French Vanilla and it was great. Any cake mix would work
2 cans cherry pie filling you could change the recipe and put any pie filling
1 stick butter (melted)
toppings pecans, walnuts optional – I used chopped pecans and it was YUMMY!

Homemade Whipped Cream

1 quart whipping cream
2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp powdered sugar

Instructions

Cherry Pie Dump Cake

Preheat over to 350 degrees Grease 9×13 baking pan well Pour cherry pie filling on pan and spread evenly Next pour cake mix over cherry pie filling, covering entire pan Drizzle melted butter on top of the cake mix, making sure to cover as much as possible. Bake for 50-60 minutes Filling will be hot – let cool for 5-10min before serving Best if served with homemade whipped cream

Homemade Whipped Cream

Pour all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well (about 5-8 minutes) with hand mixer until peaks form.
