Nutcracker Martini

A Nutcracker Martini will surely put you in a festive spirit this holiday season! This manly, yet sweet cocktail is fit for royalty and will have you wishing it was the Christmas season year round. The tasty drink consists of vanilla vodka, chocolate liqueur, Rumchata, and hazelnut liqueur. This drink is smooth, but sip slowly as it packs a powerful punch! Mix up a batch of nutcracker martinis and have yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

Nutcracker Origin

The nutcrackers or wooden soldiers that we see around Christmas time originated in Germany around the early 1800s. Families put the nutcrackers in their windows to keep them safe from evil spirits. The first nutcrackers were made to mimic kings and soldiers. Nowadays, however, nutcrackers come in a variety of designs such as athletes, different hobbyists, military personnel, etc.

Nutcracker-tini

The nutcracker martini or nutcracker-tini for short is a sure to please holiday cocktail. Guests love it. I mean, how adorable is the name itself? The creamy drink itself is the actual icing on the cake so to speak. The sweet taste of vanilla vodka combined with the creamy goodness of chocolate liqueur and Rumchata is amazing. Top it off with a little Frangelico (hazelnut liqueur), and it will knock your socks off. Seriously, if you drink too many of these, your socks might just come off! You’ve been warned…

Martini Ingredients

Key ingredients for yummy vodka martinis consist of flavored vodkas such as vanilla along with creamy cordials like Irish Cream (Bailey’s), chocolate liqueur (Godiva), Rumchata, and many others. This nutcracker martini consists of many of those key ingredients. That can only mean one thing, this martini recipe is a KEEPER!

  • 3 oz Vanilla Vodka
  • 1.5 oz Chocolate Liqueur
  • 1.5 oz Rumchata
  • 0.5 oz Frangelico

Instructions

Garnishing The Martini Glass

  • Drizzle chocolate sauce on the sides of the martini glass as you turn it (so that you get a little drizzle all around the glass).

Mixing Up The Martini

  • Fill cocktail shaker 1/2 way with ice.
  • Measure and pour all ingredients into cocktail shaker.
  • Shake vigorously.
  • Pour into garnished martini glass.

Naming This Martini

Before making this yummy drink, I was in the mood to create a funky martini. I wanted something similar to a tiramisu martini, but different. Rather than adding Bailey’s – oops, I mean Irish Cream (Bailey’s and Irish Cream are pretty much synonymous though!), I added Rumchata. If you haven’t tried Rumchata, do yourself a favor and try it! It’s similar to Irish Cream, but it’s like a creamy liqueur with spice. Not spicy as in heat, rather, spice as in a cinnamon flavor. It’s a sweet taste with a bit of a punch. And, instead of using Kahlua (coffee liqueur) which is in a tiramisu martini, I opted for Frangelico (hazelnut liqueur).

After the mixture was shaken up, I tasted it. It was magnificent! So great! However, I didn’t have a name for this dessert martini. I posted a picture on Facebook and Instagram and asked what this should be called. After many replies, it was decided that this would be called a Nutcracker Martini. I had never heard of a Nutcracker Martini. In fact, once I made this delicious cocktail, I wasn’t quite sure what to call this. And I’m actually obsessed with this name because it’s Christmas-y, festive, and has a nutty taste to it. It’s the perfect name!

White Christmas Martini

A White Christmas Martini is a pretty and festive cocktail. It will surely have you wishing for a white Christmas this year. Just a hint of peppermint along with the white chocolate and vanilla vodka bring holiday magic to this delicious drink. This creamy martini is a great way to warm up on a cold winter night.

Perfect Holiday Cocktail

If you are looking for the perfect holiday cocktail to serve this Christmas season, a minty drink is worth considering. Peppermint goes hand in hand with Christmas after all. This White Christmas martini is a gorgeous cocktail that tastes delicious. Rather than sipping on a milk chocolate martini, try a white chocolate martini! Nothing against milk chocolate martinis, I love my Chocolate Amaretto Martini recipe from time to time. However, for a change of pace, it’s nice to have a minty, white chocolate martini. This martini feels wintery. Trust me, sipping on a delicious holiday cocktail helps you survive the harsh winter months!

White Christmas Martini Ingredients

If you follow my martini recipes religiously, you will notice that the White Christmas Martini and Candy Cane Martini consist of the same ingredients. However, the amounts are different. Therefore, they make two completely different cocktails. Now that you know you can make multiple martinis with these ingredients, hopefully, you won’t mind splurging on them.

Here is what you will need to make the White Christmas Martini:

  • 3 oz Vanilla Vodka
  • 2 oz White Chocolate Liqueur Godiva is the best!
  • 1 oz Peppermint Schnapps
  • 1 tbsp Marshmallow Fluff for glass garnish
  • 1/2 tbsp Red Sanding Sugar for glass garnish

Instructions

Garnishing The Martini Glass

Please note that if you don’t have access to marshmallow fluff (apparently, it’s a northeast thing, which I recently found out – I’m from Boston so it’s a regular item for me!), you can use vanilla frosting to garnish the martini glass. It’s the perfect color, super sweet, and just the right consistency for getting the sanding sugar to stick.

  • Spread marshmallow fluff around the rim of the martini glass.
  • Pour red sanding sugar onto a small plate.
  • Dip marshmallow lined martini glass into the sanding sugar to cover the rim evenly.

Mixing Up The White Christmas Martini

  • Fill a cocktail shaker 1/2 with ice.
  • Measure and pour all ingredients into cocktail shaker.
  • Shake vigorously.
  • Pour liquid into the garnished glass.

Santa Clausmopolitan

Santa Clausmopolitan. Yes, a Santa Clausmopolitan is a twist on a favorite martini called the Cosmopolitan, but a pun on words using Santa Claus, of course! It is an adorable name for a delicious cocktail. What better drink to get you in the Christmas spirit, but a Santa Clausmopolitan? I certainly cannot think of anything merrier to serve alongside a holiday dessert this Christmas season!

Cosmopolitan Martini Twist

A cosmopolitan martini has been around for what seems like forever. Do you remember Sex In The City with the infamous Carrie Bradshaw and her girlfriends? She basically invented the 1990s martini that is more commonly called a Cosmo for short.

I’m dating myself right now, but back in the 1990s, we didn’t have all the flavored vodkas or cordials that we have nowadays. A cosmopolitan was somewhat innovative back then. And it consisted of citron vodka, triple sec, a splash or cranberry juice, and a lemon twist. I loved the look of a cosmos in a funky martini glass, but just wasn’t a fan of the taste. It was too lemony/alcohol-y for my taste back then. These days, I’m a much bigger fan. Although, this Santa Clausmopolitan is more my style with the sweet addition of peach schnapps and vanilla vodka versus citron vodka

Santa Clausmopolitan Ingredients

I try to create cocktail recipes that do not include non-alcohol ingredients in them. However, sometimes you need to make an exception here and there. A Santa Clausmopolitan is a drink that I have made such an exception because what would a Santa martini be without a deep red color? It wouldn’t be as festive and that just cannot be. Therefore, cranberry juice, is essential to this recipe!

Cosmopolitan Ingredients

  • 3 oz Vanilla Vodka
  • 1 oz Peach Schnapps
  • 1 oz Triple Sec
  • A good splash Cranberry Juice

Glass Garnish

  • Vanilla Frosting
  • 1 Marshmallow

Instructions

Garnishing The Glass

  • Using a butter knife, spread vanilla 1/2″ of vanilla frosting along the rim of the martini glass, making sure to cover it all the way around.
  • Slice a marshmallow almost all the way through.
  • Spread vanilla frosting on the marshmallow.
  • Wrap the marshmallow around the stem of the martini glass, directly below the actual glass.
  • Add additional frosting to the seam of the marshmallow to make sure it stays.

Mixing Up The Santa Clalusmopolitan

  • Fill a cocktail shaker 1/2 way with ice.
  • Measure and pour all martini ingredients into the cocktail shaker.
  • Shake vigorously.
  • Pour into garnished martin glass.

Sugar Cookie Martini

A festive Christmas cocktail that is a must try this holiday season is a butterscotch schnapps sugar cookie martini. Wow, that’s a mouthful and then some! We can simplify what we call this delicious drink to a Sugar Cookie Martini. Much better, right? But seriously, if you are looking for fun holiday drinks, this sugar cookie martini fits the bill. The sweet taste of butterscotch hits the spot alongside the vanilla vodka and Irish cream.

Even though sugar cookies are synonymous with Christmas, you can make this yummy martini throughout the year. And the best part of making this cookie recipe is that there is NO BAKING involved! I love mimicking desserts in drink form. Not only is it a conversation starter (desserts in martini form – who doesn’t love to talk about what’s in those?), but creating these delicious recipes are my creative outlet. And can we please talk about garnishing the rims? That’s the BEST part! My creative juices really get flowing, when I think about the different variations that can be used to dress up a martini glass.

Festive Christmas Cocktail

There are 3 main reasons this festive Christmas cocktail is a hit. First, it tastes delicious. There really isn’t much to elaborate on that! Secondly, this sugar cookie martini looks festive. And everyone loves a festive cocktail, especially at the holidays. And third, a Christmas cookie martini is a true conversation piece. Everyone will be asking what your drink is. And then they will NEED to know what makes up a sugar cookie martini! I mean, if you are looking to get attention at a party, this is the drink to have in your hand : ) And if you want to be super host/hostess, this is the drink to serve to your guests. I can’t say it enough, mixing up drinks is super easy and quick! No preheating ovens, mixing up batters, or estimating baking time. You measure, shake, and pour – then D-R-I-N-K!!! Well, technically, you should sip on a martini, but it certainly is difficult to sip on something so yummy!

Ingredients

This sugar cookie martini consists of a few key ingredients that can be considered bar staples. Vanilla vodka, irish cream, and butterscotch schnapps. Okay, maybe vanilla vodka and butterscotch schnapps aren’t exactly staples in your home bar, but after you try this tasty drink, you will want to keep them stocked at all times.

  • 2 oz Vanilla Vodka
  • 2 oz Butterscotch Schnapps
  • 0.5 oz Irish Cream Bailey’s is a favorite
  • 1 tbsp Marshmallow Fluff glass garnish
  • 1-2 tbsp Pop Tarts crushed glass garnish

Instructions

This sugar cookie martini consists of 2 steps; garnishing the martini glass and mixing up the martini itself. You could skip the garnishing step and just mix the martini ingredients and the sugar cookie martini will still taste great. However, you will really be doing a disservice if you skip the garnishing step. It’s so fun! And, realistically, you know you want a few mini bites of delicious frosted pop tarts. So do yourself a favor and spend the extra 2 minutes on garnishing the glass.

Garnishing The Glass

  • Spread marshmallow fluff around the top of the martini glass and cover the entire rim, approx 1/4″ from the top
  • Place crushed pop tarts on a small plate.
  • Dip the garnished rim of marshmallow fluff into the crushed pop tarts, turning the glass to cover all around. Set aside in the freezer as you mix up the martini.

Making The Martini

  • Fill a cocktail shaker 1/2 way with ice.
  • Measure and pour all the ingredients in the cocktail shaker.
  • Mix vigorously.
  • Pour into garnished martini glass.

Candy Cane Martini – Cheers To The Christmas Season

A Candy Cane Martini is the perfect cocktail around the Christmas season. The peppermint flavor and festive colors of this drink really evoke the Christmas spirit. When gathering with your family and friends to exchange gifts and food, this adult refreshment is a must have. Each crisp sip reminds you of the feeling you had as a kid eating candy canes out of your stocking on Christmas morning!

Candy Canes

When you think of Christmas, do you think of candy canes? And when you think of candy canes, do you think of Christmas? I’m certain that you answered yes to at least one of those questions. Christmas and candy canes go hand in hand. After all, do you see candy canes for sale throughout the rest of the year? Not usually.

Back in my day (wow, do I sound old!), candy canes were peppermint flavored only. Once in a long while, you could find cherry flavored candy canes, but they were hard to come by.

Nowadays, you can find candy canes in every flavor under the sun. They are like the new jelly beans in regards to the different flavors. I’ve even seen buttered popcorn candy canes…I’m all for buttered popcorn, but not as a candy cane. No thank you!

I’d prefer to stick with the good old fashioned peppermint candy canes with the occasional cherry flavored ones. Nostalgia is a powerful thing! But seriously, candy canes are meant to be red and white and with the minty taste of peppermint. It’s the way Christmas was meant to be.

Peppermint Cheer

Peppermint has a distinct taste and you either love and can’t get enough of it or you just flat out despise it. Like many other Christmas staples, peppermint is on the short list of must-haves during the Christmas season.

Although you can find peppermint cookies, drinks, and candy year round, it is most popular in December. People love to stock up on peppermint chocolates that make up cookies or chocolate bark. Additionally, you find peppermint extract a lot more easily in the late fall/early winter months because that is BAKING SEASON! And the most popular things to bake around Christmas time? COOKIES, of course! Further, the very festive Christmas cookies are the ones that are minty and different from the regular chocolate chip cookies you eat throughout the year.

And let’s not forget about the hot chocolate season that begins in December. What is better than warm chocolate milk? Of course, it would be a warm chocolate milk with a candy cane in it!

All of these things remind you of Christmas so there is just one problem, we need a festive cocktail that is tied to this list of festive food and drinks. A candy cane martini is just what Santa is bringing you this year boys and girls!

Gingerbread Martini The Best Cocktail This Christmas Season

A Gingerbread Martini is a creamy cocktail that tastes like your favorite Christmas cookie, but in liquid form. When you think of Christmas cookies, you immediately think of cute little gingermen that are decorated with white icing. It is a symbol of the Christmas season. Not that we can’t eat gingerbread throughout the rest of the year, but there is something magical about those cookies. Now you can mix up a festive holiday cocktail without all the mess of baking those cute little cookies!

I bet a Gingerbread Martini sounds good to you right now. I mean, Halloween is over so that means it’s Christmas season, right? So many people have decided that 2020 has been such a crappy year that they are going to start their Christmas celebrations early by decorating and shopping right away. Using that logic, I think we should up the anti and start our holiday baking and celebrating early too…which means getting our drinks ready to go!

Gingerbread

Gingerbread is a type of baked good that is flavored with ginger and molasses. Additionally, it generally contains cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and is usually sweetened with brown sugar, corn syrup, or honey.

Popular gingerbread foods are gingerbread cookies, gingerbread loaf cakes, and ginger snaps. Not to mention gingerbread dough that makes up the fun elements for making gingerbread houses!

Nowadays, we take a good thing and exploit the crap out of it – think pumpkin spice everything! And gingerbread is somewhat similar, but hasn’t been completely overdone (not yet anyway!). However, we can find gingerbread lattes, gingerbread muffins, and now even gingerbread martinis. And, I for one, am extremely happy that gingerbread vodka exists so that we can drink our favorite Christmas cookie.
