Sausage & Biscuits

Sausage and biscuits is a hearty breakfast that can feed big families easily. It is easy to make and has a gravy that is addictive. Even if you aren’t a huge fan of sausages, in general, breakfast sausage is liked by almost everyone. It’s texture is much like ground turkey and hamburg, but has a very appetizing flavor. This breakfast casserole is the perfect choice for Easter brunch, holidays such as Mother’s Day or Father’s Day breakfasts, or any morning that you want something more than cereal.

Ultimate Breakfast Comfort Food

This satisfying breakfast is hearty and the ultimate breakfast comfort food. We all know this is not a dish that is going to be promoted by Weight Watchers, but does that really matter? Not if you eat it in moderation. You can’t survive off of rice cakes and fruit every day…okay, maybe you can, but you wouldn’t be happy – let’s just agree on that!

Sausage and biscuits consists of biscuits, sausages, then more biscuits! Every bite is loaded with some kind of pleasurable ingredient. No need to sift through the pan, you can’t go wrong with your serving.

Easy to Make

Not only is this dish delicious, it is very easy to make. And there are minimal ingredients needed to cook this family favorite. You will need sausage, biscuits, flour, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. That’s it! For a breakfast that packs so much flavor, it’s amazing that there are so little ingredients. You could add some melted butter to the top layer of biscuits, but it’s not necessary. You could opt for I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Light spray and spray the tops of the biscuits to give them a golden hue.

What I really love about this recipe is that you can cook 2 different steps at the same time. For instance, as the 1st biscuit layer cooks, you can cook the sausage and gravy. Then, when the biscuits are done, you can add the sausage/gravy mixture to the pan, then top with the final layer of biscuits. And then as the entire meal cooks together, you can clean up and get ready to dig in!

Italian Skillet Chicken

Italian Skillet Chicken. What exactly is that? The name doesn’t really sound interesting, but I can assure you that you will love this easy to make chicken dinner. This dish is technically a skillet dinner. I don’t know about you, but when I hear the phrase, skillet dinner, I’m thinking it’s a decent meal, but probably boring, worth making, but nothing out of the ordinary. However, this chicken skillet is something you could eat at a nice restaurant. It is not boring, there is so much flavor, it will surprise you.

Easy to Make

Now you are probably thinking, if this is meal is restaurant quality, will I be able to make this? And will it taste the same when I make it? Yes! Even a novice cook can make this dinner and look like a professional chef. This chicken dinner is easy to make and can be ready in less than 30 minutes. Oh, and remember it is a skillet dish? You know that means just 1 pan to clean up, right?

Delicious Dinner

Delicious dinners don’t have to be complicated. And easy dinners can be delicious! This Italian skillet chicken has a sauce that you will want to drown your rice or mashed potatoes in. The sauce consists of garlic (everything tastes better with garlic, am I right?), white wine, lemon juice, and chicken broth mainly. Then you add in some regular seasonings like black pepper and oregano. And don’t forget the yummy vegetables such as spinach, baby bella mushrooms, and tomatoes. Wait, are those a fruit? Regardless, the entire meal comes together quickly and has little prep. Just cut off the fat on the chicken and wash the veggies, then start cooking. Soon after you start, it will be ready to be served. You will be amazed at how good of a cook you really are.

French Martini

A french martini is my absolute favorite martini. I discovered this delectable drink one night at one of our amazing, local restaurants, Peppercorn House. This is an Asian restaurant that serves Chinese as well as Japanese dishes. We love going there for a night out of delicious food and mouthwatering drinks.

I had never heard of a French Martini before, but it was listed as one of their signature drinks. Under the drink names, they listed the ingredients of each drink. So what is a French Martini? It’s vodka, chambord, and pineapple juice. Anything with chambord gets my immediate attention. I am a sucker for recipes that call for raspberries or the taste of raspberry! And pineapple juice is always a good time. After all, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like the taste of pineapple.

A Different Choice

I am always nervous to try new things. Even if a recipe sounds as though I will love it, I’m always hesitant to venture outside of my comfort zone. Mainly because when I do try something new, 90% of the time, I am disappointed with my choice. Therefore, I get upset with myself that I didn’t order my go-to choice. I decided to give this martini a chance. I could always order something else, it wasn’t my dinner, just a drink.

My drink arrived and it looked AMAZING! I couldn’t wait to slurp that sucker down. One sip and I was SO RELIEVED and excited that I did take that leap of faith and tried this drink. It was so good, I loved it. So much so that I ordered another one with dinner. The first one was long gone before my dinner arrived.

Verdict Is In

I have since ordered these martinis at other restaurants and even though they all have their own variations, they are all yummy and enjoyable! Finally, I broke down and attempted to make my own concoction. I hadn’t made many martinis of my own, only ones that consisted of mixing vodka with a packaged mixture. The French Martini would be my FIRST attempt at making a martini from scratch so to speak. For a martini-making novice, this recipe is super easy. Don’t be afraid to make it. It takes less than 5 minutes to make and it is so worth the effort. Try it and enjoy!

Banana Creme Martini

Banana Creme Martini. Let that sink in. How good does that sound right about now? This is a great martini for a dessert martini or an any time martini, if you are on vacation. Hey, bananas constitute an acceptable breakfast food so why the heck not?

Dessert Martini

The banana creme martini probably sounds like a girly martini. Perhaps you are thinking it seems like it has no substance. However, I can assure you that this is a serious martini. It just so happens, that this serious martini is super creamy and delicious! Did you realize you could have both? I didn’t believe it until I tried it.

So what is in it that makes it so powerful? It consists of just 3 ingredients; vanilla vodka, banana liqueur, and Irish cream. Those 3 things are all that stands between you and this rich, banana martini. You have probably heard of vanilla vodka and Irish cream. If you haven’t heard of banana liqueur, surprisingly, this liqueur is a lot stronger than you would expect. One brand that I suggest is 99 Bananas. As the name implies, it is 99 proof! What’s crazy is how smooth it is. 99 proof! That’s along the lines of Bourbon and Whiskey. Those certainly are not girly drinks.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Vanilla Vodka
  • 1 oz Irish Cream
  • 1 oz Banana Liqueur

Making The Banana Creme Martini

All you need to do is measure each part, put it in a shaker with ice, shake, and pour! If you ask me, that sounds a lot easier than making a banana creme pie! And you get a potent punch along with this heavenly dessert. If that sounds like a dessert you would want, make it!

Instructions

  • Fill shaker 2/3 full of ice.
  • Measure all ingredients and add to shaker.
  • Shake well.
  • Pour into martini glass.

Garnishing The Martini Glass

Ideally, you want to play up this martini with a cool martini glass. Get the glass and garnish it with chocolate syrup. I know I mentioned this martini only consists of 3 ingredients, but to really push it over the edge, add the chocolate syrup around the inside of the martini glass. That little bit of chocolate will really bring this drink to a whole new level.

Have you started gathering your ingredients yet? If not, you need to get moving. You are wasting precious time!

Chicken Pot Pie Soup

Chicken Pot Pie Soup is an awesome soup that is based on the classic American dinner, Chicken Pot Pie, of course. This soup is a hearty meal which has meat, vegetables, dairy, and is best when served with biscuits or some kind of bread. I’m confident that once you try this, it will become a favorite in your family. Adults and kids all enjoy this popular meal.

Chicken Pot Pie Soup – How It Became A Favorite

One day I was trading recipes with a friend of mine and she mentioned her family loved Chicken Pot Pie Soup. Chicken Pot Pie SOUP? What exactly was that? And how come I never heard of it before?!? It turns out it is basically the same dish, but in a soup version. I needed to know the ingredients and I HAD to make this.

And soon after I found out about this yummy soup, I made it for dinner. It was super easy to make. Like, embarrassingly, easy. This is the type of meal you can throw together and everyone will love it. Do you have a crock pot? If you do, you can pop some chicken in the crock pot in the morning and throw dinner together in the evening in less than 20 minutes.

Dinner was ready quickly. It looked and smelled delicious. It was easy to make which is great. Would it be as good as I hoped? We sat down to dinner to find out. After just a few bites, we all agreed that the Chicken Pot Pie Soup was a hit! My entire family devoured it and then got seconds. And then devoured those as well. That was all the proof I needed when deeming this a Favorite Dinner on my Pinterest board.

Chicken Pot Pie Soup

There are minimal ingredients in this yummy soup which always wins bonus points for me, when it comes to recipes. How easy can a recipe be if it has 10 million ingredients in it? Less is best, that’s my motto when it comes to cooking!

The only ingredients you will need for this recipe is chicken, cream of chicken soup, cream of potato soup, milk, frozen vegetables, and diced potatoes. That’s it. Ground Turkey Sweet Potato Skillet w/Baby Carrots

Ground turkey sweet potato skillet with baby carrots has been a family favorite in my house for years. I recently posted my plated dinner on my Facebook feed and had numerous friends reach out asking for the recipe! There are so many great things about this recipe that I’m positive you will want to make this favorite dinner soon!

What Makes This A Favorite Dish?

This skillet dish is great for all kinds. For one, it is a 1-pan meal. You cook everything in 1 pan! That means less cleanup at the end. And who wants to clean up a huge mess after you cook a meal? Certainly not me. I can’t imagine that anyone would WANT to clean more. The less steps it takes to relaxing at the end of the day, the more I want in!

Another great thing about ground turkey sweet potato skillet is that all of the ingredients are cooked together to make a flavorful and complete meal. The savory taste of cumin and chili pepper really bring the ground turkey, sweet potatoes, and baby carrots to a new level. You can mix and match the amounts, if you like certain spices more than others. You are in charge, take it!

Ingredients Needed

  • 6 each Sweet Potatoes peeled and cubed pre-cooked in microwave
  • 2 lbs Ground Turkey
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Shredded
  • 3 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 3 tbsp Cumin
  • 2 tbsp Garlic Minced
  • 2 cups Baby Carrots pre-cooked in microwave
  • 2 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp pepper to taste
  • Sour Cream as a topping Greek Yogurt is a great sour cream alternative

Easy To Make

This skillet creation is really easy to make. While you work on cooking a few things, you can be prepping the next steps. For example, while the turkey is cooking, you can microwave the baby carrots (in a small bowl of water) to soften them up, essentially, cooking them. After the carrots are done, you can add the sweet potatoes to the microwave to pre-cook those. Because these don’t have to be mushy, you won’t have to wait 15-20 minutes for those to be ready, approximately 10 minutes will be fine.

This savory dish can be cooked in less than 30 minutes. I have made this dinner many times on nights that I had limited time to make supper and it comes together quickly every time. It’s a huge lifesaver when you are trying to feed the starving people in your family on a tight time schedule.

How Does It Taste?

Not only is this recipe healthy, it is absolutely delicious! Yes, you can have a healthy meal and it can still taste great. The ground turkey is low fat which is a great alternative to red meat which is generally, fatty. Sweet potatoes have more nutritional value than regular potatoes. They contain more fiber per serving, more vitamin A & C, and calcium as well as other essential nutrients.

Ground turkey sweet potato skillet with baby carrots is pretty healthy, we’ve established that. In addition to that, it really has a yummy taste that is super easy to eat. The sweet taste of the sweet potatoes and carrots is a great contrast to the cumin and cheese that are added in to this dish. It’s a clean way to eat a comfort type of food. And you won’t feel guilty going for seconds because you guessed it, it’s healthy!
